While studying at Robert Morgan, Patrick began working with Dixie Animal Hospital the summer prior to his senior year, in June of 2006. Since then he has taken positions as both Assistant Supervisor to the Laboratory and Kennel in January 2013 and then as Supervisor to the Laboratory and Kennel in March of 2013. In May of 2015, Patrick Scardina served as Office Manager, before again being promoted to Practice Manager in August of 2016. He owns two dogs named Baby and Raymond and a cat named Ginger who he adopted from Dixie Animal Hospital in 2012. While he enjoys the work he has been doing at Dixie Animal Hospital., Patrick maintains that he hopes to become an English teacher at the high school level as well as possibly establish himself as a writer.

Monica Scardina: Office Manager

Monica Scardina began working with Dixie Animal Hospital in July of 2015. She quickly rose to the occassion, becoming Assistant Office Manager in January of 2016, showing her commitment and dedication to the company. Through her continued hard work, Monica was promoted to Office Manager in August of 2016. Monica is passionate about quality healthcare and a great client/clinic relationship. She shares ownership of two dogs named Baby and Raymond and a cat named Ginger with Patrick. She also enjoys a lively life full of activities such as photography, outdoor events (skydiving, helmet ‘scuba’ diving, ziplining, etc.) and a daily CrossFit regimen. Outside of providing an excellent skillset to Dixie Animal Hospital, Monica is working hard to obtain a degree in Psychology with a focus in helping underprivileged families.

Lynette Kim: Assistant Office Manager

Lynette has been surrounded by animals her whole life which led to her passionate care for animals. Her father is a retired Special Forces Green Beret and with that she grew up with retired military working dogs that he would adopt. Despite all of her senior dog care with the retired canines, Lynette is more of a ‘cat person’. Her passion for animals led her to taking zoology courses in middle school and high school. She received employment in Miami as a night vision technician before working as a civilian contractor for the United States Army Veterinary Corps in England. Her time with the Veterinary Corps drove her passion for the veterinary field. Lynette is now currently enrolled at Miami Dade College with a focus in Veterinary Technology and long term aspirations of becoming a veterinarian. Outside of work Lynette likes to participate in veteran advocacy causes, competitive video gaming such as World of Warcraft, trivia, American muscle cars, yoga and traveling abroad. She has two Chihuahuas of her own named Fito and Sookie, and two cats named Arthas and Elune, all of which are equally spoiled.

Ashley Rivera

Ashley Rivera is of Cuban descent, but was born and raised in Miami. She grew up with a variety of animals in her households ranging from cats to iguanas. Having so many species crawling around at home led her to want to pursue veterinary medicine. Ashley has been working in and out of the veterinary field for ten years now. She is currently attending Florida Int'l University finalizing a Bachelor's in Criminal Justice and when she completes that degree she will work hard to pursue her dream of attending veterinary school. Ashley has seven cats and one chihuahua. When she is not caring for all of her critters, she is spending time with family, painting, drawing and traveling.

Alyssa Dazza

Alyssa Dazza was born and raised in Ecuador before moving to South Florida in 2005. She has been passionate about animal care for as long as she can remember. Alyssa spent several of the last years working with Miami-Dade Animal Services and developing a program aimed at saving the lives of orphaned neonatal kittens, all while attending FIU and receiving a Bachelor's in Biology. She began working with Dixie Animal Hospital in May of 2017, quickly showing how her time with shelter medicine applies to compassionate care of companion animals. Throughout her life she has cared for a variety of pets, but considers herself to be a cat person and often fosters pets who would otherwise be left neglected. Currently, Alyssa is working towards obtaining her Master's in Shelter Medicine and hopes to apply to veterinary school afterwards with hopes of becoming a veterinarian in a shelter facility.

Ten plus years ago we acquired "Chevy", a lab mix, from the Broward Shelter. He is the spark in our lives! Today he was seen at Dixie and everyone of the staff greeted him and called him by name. What a wonderful feeling in addition to the great medical care he gets. Honestly, you can't do better."
